The Minstrel

The Minstrel visited our school. He sang us songs about kai moana (seafood) and his wife taught us some dance moves. He was very funny and everyone enjoyed the show.

Junior Team Stitchery

We made a collage tree and then stitched a border around and stitched our initials.
Some lovely parents came to help us. It was very exciting.

Discovery Time Term 2

Discovery Time is a hands-on, activity based programme that puts children in charge of their own learning. The teacher sets the scene and the children decide the action.
We have our Discovery Time every Wednesday morning.

Esplanade Trip

Our trip to the esplanade was really exciting. It was
a lovely still autumn day.
We travelled there in a bus.

Our first activity was a scavenger hunt. We searched for items and looked for shapes.
Mythius found a straight twig and a curved twig.

Our second activity was measuring trees. Mrs Woods showed the children how big the circumference of Tane Mahuta is.

The third activity was taking photos of the bush with the iPads and playing the the autumn leaves.

Lastly, Mrs Adams took us on a bush walk. We identified trees and birds along the way.
We also got to enjoy the playground at morning tea and lunchtime.

School Native Bush

For our rich task 'In Our Backyard' we went to investigate the school native bush.
The entrance to our native bush.

We found Poppy's grave. (School guinea pig)

We have some lovely trees like this beautiful Kauri Tree.

It was an adventure walking through looking at the different trees.

It was difficult to walk through as many trees have been chopped down.
Jayden suggested it would be a good idea if we had a path through the bush
so we could enjoy the trees more.

Shape Walk

We have been doing shapes for Maths. We went a walk around the school to discover some shapes in our backyard.
